Added 4th February 2000

I have decided to make a concerted effort to add some things of interest to my page about once a month.

So here goes:

It's been quite an uneventful month, The Daggers produced a fine performance against St Albans with what should have all but settled the league championship. But I feel we shouldn't get too complacent and shouldcarry on performing the way we have for most of this season.

I have bought a couple of CD's with vouchers that I recieved for Christmas. I had a trip up to HMV in Oxford Street with my little list in hand. I ended up with just 2 Albums, (even though I had 5 on my list, I refuse to pay £17 for a single CD album) Ani DiFranco, To the Teeth and Morcheeba from 1996 (can't remember what it was called).

Ani DiFranco is quite a prolific songwriter and has been around for about 10 years. In that time she has released around 10 albums and, in fact, released 2 last year. I don't know much of her work as it was only one track from the last album that grabbed my attention. I am very impressed though and will make an effort to get to hear some of her earlier stuff.

On our website things have really been developing quite well. And we had a record amount of hits during the week of the St. Albans match, reaching around about 750 and the day after the match it was over 200. (more accurate figures can be found elsewhere on the website)

The Discussion Forum hasn't had the same content as it did before Christmas and that has to be expected but it is good to see that it doesn't suffer the level of abuse that some of the other forums within the Ryman League do. Just in case some of you are interested, on most weekdays the Forum attracts around 1,000 hits per day which compares to a year ago (when I set it up) to around 50 hits per week...and most of them were me!!

We haven't done much in the garden, Sue and I trimmed the hedge and shredded all the cuttings and added them to one of our many compost bins. I also cut down one shrub (it did break my heart, but I felt I had to do it to empathise with St. Albans supporters). I did plant 5 new tree saplings, (so that is where the empathy ends) a couple of Oak trees and the rest were Silver Birch. Both these trees appear in my top 5 native trees of all time, I will publish the rest in due course.

Thanks for taking the time to read this drivel, I will add more in a months time. Who knows, I may do some before then!

Hi everyone,

I know it is a little self indulgent for me to have my own page but it will give you a chance to get to know me better.

I have supported Dagenham & Redbridge for four years which is a fairly short time but did follow West ham for many years until money ruined the atmosphere.

I like music, our garden, my family and listening to the radio. I don't watch much television (perhaps an hour a week) and, in fact, wouldn't have one if it wasn't for my children.

On the music front I like slightly dark music with good rhythm. I am not a great lover of living in the past and get bored very easily.

In the garden I love to help wildlife, I have an area at the end that is about 80ft long by 15 ft wide. This has been designed to attract wildlife and consists of a pond, hedge, various borders and many native trees. (have a look?) When I first designed it I wanted to attract the following: Newts, Toads, Dragonflies, Bats, Hedgehogs, Nesting Robins.

It's been 10 years now and we have two species of newts. We have had a toad but I don't think it was a resident. dragonflies which we have watched climb the reeds out of the pond and deleveop from nymph to adult dragonfly. Truly fascinating. We watch bats fly up and down the garden on balmy Summer evenings and hedgehogs too although they don't fly! Nesting robins; I am still waiting for them, I have special nesting boxes in my hedge and there have been some fleeting glimpses from a couple of interested parties over the last couple days. I'll keep you informed

I listen to GLR, which is the BBC local station for London. It is a bit special as it plays some great, non-pop, music interspersed with intelligent, witty chat. Give it a go.

I spent Christmas at a school in Wickford...in a caravan and New year in London.

Car Park in Wickford

Yes, I know, it's very sad!

Caravan in Wickford

Very, very, very sad!

And New Year's Eve in London.
